HOW TO SEND PACKAGES
Packages can only be sent once a quarter (every 3 months). If an inmate is still in Reception, he will not be allowed to receive a package. He/she must wait until they have arrived at their permanent housing facility. There are 2 different types of packages that you can send:
1. Regular Quarterly Package - Mainly consist of food, hygiene, clothes & shoes
2. Special Package - Consist of all electronic item ie; T.V.'s, CD Players & radios
Both types of packages must be sent through a California approved vendor. Here is the current list of approved vendors:

HOW TO SEND BOOKS/MAGAZINES
You are allowed to send books and magazines. You may order books from any online retailer such as Barnes and Noble, Borders or Amazon.com. All books must be soft covered. Used paperback books are allowed thru a distributor, bookstore that does mail order, or publisher. Books and magazines do not count as a quarterly or special package.
HOW TO SEND MONEY
Money sent to a CA inmate can be done via money order or online money transfer
When sending by Money Order - Please include the inmates name & CDC#. The mail room will process it to the accounting department. It will take a couple of weeks to reach the inmates account.
When sending by Online Money Transfer - Sending money by online transfer, you may use the 2 websites available. Money sent to an inmate will reach his/her account in 24 to 48 hours from the day it was sent. Money may only be applied once every 3 days. Fee charges will be applied to each transaction. Fee charges will vary
